Overview of Cervical Cancer

Cervical cancer begins in the cells of the cervix, the lower part of the uterus. It is highly preventable with regular screenings (Pap tests and HPV tests) and the HPV vaccine.

5-Year Survival Rates by Stage

When detected early, the 5-year survival rate is 92%, but late-stage diagnosis reduces survival to 17%.

Early detection is one of the most powerful tools in the fight against cancer. When cancer is found at an early stage—before it has spread—treatment is often more effective, less invasive, and less costly. For many cancers, including ovarian, breast, and cervical cancer, early detection can dramatically improve survival rates and quality of life.

The Impact of Early Detection

Here’s why early detection matters

Cervical Cancer: When detected early (Stage 0 or I), the 5-year survival rate is 92%. Regular Pap tests and HPV tests can prevent most cervical cancers by finding precancerous changes early.

The key to early detection is awareness and action. Knowing your body, recognizing potential symptoms, and scheduling regular screenings can save lives. Don’t wait—early detection is your best defense against cancer.
